DAY 2

I ended yesterday evening's meal with what I ate during lunch time.  I ate at 4:00pm and again at 6:00pm to prevent from getting hungry.  Cooked for today's lunch/dinner and called it a night.

I started with 10g of BCAA at 9:00am and drank alot of water to curb the hunger.  Good thing we have an oven here in the office so I heated up my NY Strip (8.45 oz) enough to maintain medium rare and 6oz broccoli.  Lunch gave me approx 600cal, 70+g of protein, less than 40g of fat, and 20-30g of carbs from the veggies.  My dessert consisted of 2 orange cuties.  Im more than full at this time.

I have 2 teriyaki salmon fillets waiting for dinner along with broccoli and sauteed mushrooms.

For cardio, I'll probably do 30 mins on the treadmill later at 3.5mph just to have a nice sweat.

My official weight in is 176 lbs today.

Getting Lean with Leangains

I've been busting my chops figuring out how I can successfully follow the leangains program (leangains.com). To sum it all up, Leangain is:

  • Intermittent Fasting, consisting of 16 hours fast and 8 hour window to consume the recommended calorie during the specific day.
  • Utilizes the RPT (reverse pyramid training)
I would suggest either going to leangains.com or rippedbody.jp to find out more on how leangain works and possibly benefit you.

To give you my backstory.  I'm 33 years old, used to be very active in my early-mid 20's, I would workout atleast 4-5x/wk, play basketball atleast 2x/wk then when I moved to the U.S., I gained, alot.  From 160 lbs, I became a chunky 200+ lbs.  I got married 5 years ago, I was able to drop it to 185 lbs on my wedding day then ballooned to 210+ lbs.  I'm 5'7", the biggest size I've ever been.  I was eating whatever I wanted, I was a carb freak, I love white rice.  I tried to lose weight but never seemed to stick to it and ending up gaining more than what I lose.  I saw the MD for my annual physical exam, my bloodwork came back bad, my cholesterol was high, my triglyceride was high, and I had a fatty liver.  I was referred to a specialist where he told me my life expectancy is 50 years old due to the bloodwork results.  yes, it's scary however I really did not hit me yet.

On May 2011, 2 of my co-workers decided to do a biggest loser competition lasting for 5 months.  $50 buy in and $5/week which equaled to $150/person.  There was 6 of us that joined.  That was my turning point. We had set up that every Wednesday morning, we would weight in and post our weight on the board for everyone to see. My competitive nature just took over and I went to the gym, cardio, played basketball, and most importantly, watched what I ate.  I'm not going to lie, it's not easy.  There will be MANY times you would want to give up, thinking it's easier to just quit and eat eat eat especially when you're hungry and you're craving.  Been there, done that but there is not a better feeling seeing your weight drop in public.  After 5 months, I lost 43 lbs.  I weight 173.3 on the last weight in.  I won.  I lost 19.85%.  I've since maintained that weight however fluctuating at times from 172-179 lbs.  Weekend has always been the downfall, going out to eat and easily gaining 3-5 lbs however it's all water/sodium weight which can be easily burned off in 2 days.

I made a new goal for 2013 to hit 160 lbs.  This is where LG come into play.  Today is Day 1.  I work a 9-5  so I'm doing the fasted training regimen.

I drank 10g of BCAA 30 minutes before I went to the gym at 5:45am.  Warm up, stretches, 5 minute cardio then do the RPT program.  Mondays will be deadlifts & chin ups.

I will post my macro's when I get home.  I set up an excel sheet that will help me succeed.  You would need to constantly update the excel on your weight loss.  FYI, i'm doing 0/-20 for LG.
